regulatory policies and practices

Our sustainability and regulatory teams are key partners in developing and deploying best practices for chemical management and communication to our customers and across our businesses.

Safety first

Our regulatory processes are based on rigorous, globally accepted scientific metrics to assess human health and environmental impacts. Ecolab never compromises on safety and our programs are designed to meet or exceed regulations globally.

Our chemical management strategy starts with our global product safety policy and guides our product development and review processes, starting with raw materials. We closely track every chemistry in our portfolio. Through our Enterprise Resource Planning system, we store and manage raw material and product information in a central database, down to the parts-per million level. This system houses global and regional restricted substance lists, enabling Ecolab to manage existing products and assess new innovations. We use the database to participate in the Chemical Footprint Project, a nonprofit that benchmarks companies as they reduce chemicals of high concern and select safer alternatives.
